::Beverly Jane Bautista:: Week # 5 - Not-So Its Bitsy Spider

As I exited class, my eyes caught sight of this breathtaking web with the spider so effortlessly perched in the center of it. The light captures the crevices of each web and the seamless lines that have formed over time. While it petrified me of the thought of getting caught in this web, I felt amazed to have had the privilege to see God's artwork projected and highlighted by this simple lamp post. It also reminded me of Chanel's "Conductor" dance and how I hope to command a powerful presence through light--in the same way a conductor commands their orchestra through powerful, energetic slashes and punctuated flicks of their wand. The video references from Chanel of a conductor who is known for his extreme physical movements while conducting is not too far off from a spider. I imagine this spider shooting out webs in every direction in order to create its foundation and the jolts of energy it must take to create this web of art. This not-so itsy bisty spider reminded me that less is more; one light, highlighted on a single object, can make me feel powerful.
